Board Chair

Quinton joined the Board in February 2021 and was appointed Chair in November 2022. He brings significant tourism and commercial experience from 25 years in senior executive roles most recently as Chief Executive of Ngai Tahu Tourism. He is currently principal of the experience design and management consulting company EQMade as well as the Chair of Gymnastics New Zealand.

Darren’s career has spanned roles with PWC, West Yates, WHK , Crowe Horwath and Findex. He is the former Managing Principal of Findex Nelson and a current client-facing Business Advisory Services Senior Partner. He is a member of the Findex (Nelson) Principals Governing board, a trustee of the Tasman Bays Heritage Trust and sits on the Waimea College Board of trustees. He also sits on and chairs a number of client company boards as part of his day to day role. Darren was admitted as a Chartered Director to the Institute of Directors in 2019.

Emma is an economist with 25 years' experience in economic regulation, competition and commercial analysis. She has held several governance roles, including as a director of Electricity Invercargill Ltd, trustee of the Fifeshire Foundation Charitable Trust, and several education board trustee and chair roles.

Matthew Clarke

Matthew Clarke

Matt joined the NAL Board in 2013. A career airport professional, he has held executive roles at six airports in New Zealand and abroad. Matt is the Chief Executive Officer of Wellington Airport. He is a Director of Wellington NZ and Whare Manaakitanga Ltd, the operator of Wellington’s Rydges Airport hotel.

Brendan is an accomplished leader with over a decade of senior leadership experience in the aviation industry. Passionate about regional communities, he is committed to improving the values of stakeholder engagement and customer experience along with driving growth and development. Brendan holds tertiary qualifications in science and ornithology from the University of Newcastle and the University of New England, along with an executive finance qualification from Oxford University. His diverse background and strategic business leadership are key factors behind his track record of delivering impactful results.

Adrian Ferris

Adrian is an experienced Chartered Accountant with previous roles in public practice and local government. He leads the finance team who take good care of all things accounting as well as provide essential support and advice to the wider management team. Passionate about all things aviation, Adrian loves working at the busiest regional airport in the country.

Beth has an extensive background in journalism, communications and change management in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. She's a Nelson local, growing up in the region and returning to live and work after several years overseas. She oversees Nelson Airport’s Communications and Marketing, HR, IT, Health, Safety & Environment functions.

Head of Operations

Jesse brings experience in operations, safety and security management from the aviation and maritime industries. Jesse is driven by operational excellence, customer satisfaction, continuous improvement of systems and processes and compliance with best practice. He holds a commercial helicopter pilots’ licence, certificate in aeronautical maintenance engineering and a graduate diploma in aviation management to support success in the dynamic and exciting airport environment.

Marius Coetzee

Head of Assets and Projects

Marius has 15 years of experience in project, quality, and safety management in Civil Construction. He is committed to operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and improving systems while ensuring compliance with best practices. Marius has successfully completed large-scale infrastructure projects and has deep expertise in regional roading maintenance, essential for community connectivity. He holds a Bachelor's in Tourism Management, a Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Project Management, and a Masters in Business Leadership.
