Welcome to the 2026 Nelson Airport Summer Photo Competition. Te Tauihu - Top of the South shines in this season, and we want to see your amazing photos!

Pretty much everywhere you turn in this incredible corner of the world is photogenic. So whether you’re a visitor or local, have pro gear or a smart phone, we want to see the region through your eyes! Share your photo with us and go in the draw to win some great prizes.

How to enter:

Please send your entry to promotions@nelsonairport.co.nz with ‘Summer Photo Comp’ as the subject and your name, email, age and phone number in the email. A few sentences about your photo would be great too!

We are lucky to have two ultra-talented guest judges who will bring their different photographic perspectives to the judging panel alongside our in house team.

Guest Judges

Aimee Jules

I’m a professional photographer based in Ngatimoti. My love for the outdoors is a constant influence on my work, and I feel most at home capturing people out exploring the world. Whether I’m shooting personal projects or commercial campaigns, I like to focusing on movement, authenticity, and people genuinely using products in real environments. While landscapes set the scene, it’s the people, culture, and stories woven into these wild places that I truly love bringing to life through my photography.

Joe Bailey

I am an award winning landscape photographer, drawn to photography through time spent living in Queenstown, where dramatic alpine environments first shaped my visual approach. After relocating to Nelson, I continued to develop my practice, focusing on capturing the region’s diverse landscapes and quieter natural moments. Much of my work is created while exploring the Nelson region alongside my dog, Cosmo, always in search of compelling light, atmosphere, and a sense of place.

Terms and Conditions of Entry

Free entry
Maximum of two photos per entrant
There is no age limit
Competition runs from the 28th Jan to the 22nd March 2026
Photo must be taken within the past 12 months
Photo must be the following format: .jpeg/.jpg, .png, .gif, .tiff
Make sure your picture is reasonable quality, at least 1500 pixels x 1500 pixels
Photo must be less than 20mb
Videos cannot be entered
Entrants can be based anywhere however pictures must be of Nelson Tasman
Nelson Airport Ltd and sponsors reserve the right to use any/all entries, original or otherwise, to further promote the competition and/or the region. The photographer will always be credited in these instances.

Any decisions made by Nelson Airport Limited in regard to any part of the promotion are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Nelson Airport Ltd reserves the right to amend, change or cancel the promotion and/or the terms and conditions of the promotion at any time.
Nelson Airport Ltd staff, board members and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter.
Entries must be made within the timeframe specified to be eligible.
Nelson Airport Ltd reserves the right to offer alternative prizes of equal or lesser value in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

All prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for any cash alternatives, in whole or in part.
By accepting the award, each winner acknowledges that their name and entered photograph may be used by Nelson Airport Ltd for publicity purposes.
The promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with any third-party website, such as Facebook, which is used to promote the competition.
The winner will be notified by Nelson Airport Ltd via contact details submitted when entering the promotion or through third-party websites where the competition is promoted, such as Facebook. We will make three attempts to contact the winner within two weeks of the closing date. Where attempts to contact the winner fail, Nelson Airport Ltd reserves the right to select another winner.
