An extension to our covered passenger walkway will improve passenger comfort, better support regional airline operations, and generate renewable energy.
The 130-metre extension will provide additional shelter from the weather, reduce exposure to aircraft noise, and create a more consistent experience for passengers by improving access to aircraft parked on the southern stands.
Approximately 200 roof-mounted solar panels will be installed along the new walkway, transforming it into a small on-site renewable energy generator. Once complete, the system is expected to generate enough electricity to offset around 12% of the terminal's annual power consumption, reducing both energy costs and carbon emissions.
Construction is scheduled to begin in July and continue through to late 2026.
The existing container walkways will remain in place until the new extension is complete. Temporary passenger access routes will also be provided throughout construction to ensure safe access to aircraft.
