The Southern Development Area will unlock new opportunities for aviation businesses at Nelson Airport. With smart planning and a focus on sustainability, we’re building a future-ready airport precinct that keeps Nelson connected and thriving.
A key part of our 2050 Masterplan is the development of land at the southern end of the airport precinct for aircraft hangars and other airport-related industry. Our Masterplan aims to ensure there’s sufficient land made available for businesses wanting to operate from the airport.
The first stage of this development was the creation of Kuaka Way, a new access road to the area, and construction of the GO Rentals car grooming and maintenance facility, completed in 2023.
This is a concept layout of the Southern Development Area. The actual configuration of the area will be designed to accommodate the eventual tenant mix and requirements.
